Nigerian rapper, Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has been laid to rest in Ikorodu, Lagos state.

The 27-year-old singer died on Tuesday, September 12 with controversies rife about the cause of his death.

Some reports claimed that he had sought medical treatment for an ear infection but, after receiving an injection, he lost consciousnesses and failed to wake up.

While some others claimed that he died as a result of heart complication as a result of drugs.

Amid conflicting reports surrounding his death, the singer is reported to have been buried today, September 13, less than 24 hours after his tragic passing, according to Islamic rites.

Several clips on social media showed the burial procession as many wailed when his coffin was lowered to the ground.

In 2019, Mohbad issued his first EP, Light, after agreeing to a record deal with Marlian Records World.

The eight songs on the EP feature Davido, Naira Marley, and Lil Kesh.

After two years, he announced his departure from Marlian Records.

On 5 October 2022, Mohbad accused singer Naira Marley of domestic violence and stated that his former boss ordered people to beat him up when he confronted Marley about his decision to employ a different manager to handle his music and business affairs.

After the fight with his boss, Mohbad launched his own record label called “Imolenization” in November, 2022.

Mohbad is best known for his hit singles Ponmo, Feel Good, and KPK (Ko Por Ke) with Rexxie.

He was nominated three times for The Headies Awards 2022.

Omowunmi, wife of late Nigerian musician, Promise IleriOluwa Oladimeji Aloba, popularly known as MohBad, has taken to social media to express grief over her lover’s demise, explaining how hard she tried to make him stay alive.

The 24-year-old disclosed that their son just clocked five months on Tuesday, September 12, the same day the singer passed away.

She wrote: “we had so many plans. Two responsibilities have now become one. You were my ride or die. I tried to make you stay Ilerioluwa…aaaaahh I repeat, I don’t wish this type of pain on anyone.”

She lamented how their son, Liam, “would only grow to know his father through the internet” while she reminisced about how Mohbad made pregnancy so easy for her.

She also revealed that Mohbad “struggled till death” and “always lived with fears”.

Meanwhile, the details surrounding MohBad’s death remained undisclosed.

He had released several hit singles, including “Ponmo, Feel Good, and Ko Por Ke”. He was also known for his energetic live performances.
