65th National Film Awards: Sridevi wins Best Actress Award posthumously for MOM

Veteran actress Sridevi, who passed away in February this year, has been awarded the 65th National Award for Best Actress posthumously for her movie MOM.

The announcement was made on Friday by a 10 member jury which was headed by filmmaker Shekhar Kapoor.

Reportedly, Sridevi won the award after beating Malayalam actress Asha Sarath, who too was a top choice for the prestigious award.

MOM, helmed by Ravi Udyawar, the movie is about the struggle of a mother who seeks justice for her raped daughter.
Also starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Akshaye Khanna in the lead role, the movie was critically acclaimed by the audience.

In fact, MOM was touted to be one of Sridevi's best performance post her comeback on the big screen.

Unfortunately, it turned out to be her last performance on the big screen as Sridevi breathed her last in Dubai early this year.

Notably, she will also be seen in Shah Rukh Khan's upcoming movie Zero, but it will be a cameo. Zero will be released by the end of this year.
