Housemates in the ongoing Big Brother Naija, `Double Wahala’ reality TV show, have advocated for responsible parenthood and safe sex, especially among youths.
The housemates used the week’s 50 per cent wager task to create awareness for responsible parenting and safer sex.
Big Brother ensured that the pairs played roles as parents to baby dolls and also made them deliver a poem, a song and talk show as part of the task.
The theme of the week was, “Responsible adults” and “Safe sex”.
Big Brother (Biggie) used the initiative to test the housemates’ ability to look after toddlers and also as a means of promoting responsibility and awareness of safer sex.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, Biggie told the housemates to put on their creative skills to come up with a poem, a song and a talk show to promote and create awareness for safer and protected sex.
The first group made up of Tobi, Anto, Lolu, Angel and Miracle were made to give inspirational talks to shed light on the myths and realities surrounding sex education.
Ricco, Cee C, Nina, Teddy and Bam Bam took on different verses to produce a song entitled ‘plan em well.’.
The song was made to remind people to plan well before taking actions.
Ifu Ennada, Alex and Leo formed a poem for the cause, while Ahneeka hosted the show.
Lolu, who is widely regarded as the smartest in the house, made a strong point during the presentation.
He was of the view that, “Today’s realities depict abstinence as taboo and unfashionable. Remember, safe sexual practices are an individual decision and the benefits are lifelong.’’
The current Head of House, Miracle, highlighted the fact that faithfulness was ideal, however, added, “That is not entirely everyone’s reality so, safety is key. No glove no love”.
In spite of lack of full participation, the housemates won their 50 per cent wager.
