Davido donates $5000 to music school in Rwanda

David Adeleke, Nigerian singer better known as Davido, pledged $5000 (N1,800,000) to a Rwandan music school on Saturday.

The ‘Fia’ singer visited the school hours before his concert in Kigali, the country’s capital.

“I love Africa, and that’s why I told my boy before I stood up here… that I am going to donate $5000 to you,” Davido told the hyper-excited students.

The singer shared a video of his visit on Twitter, with the caption: “As I always say ‘we rise by lifting others’.

“Visited a music school in Rwanda today, the beautiful bright spirit of the people I met there motivated me to donate to their future.”

Davido also announced that the students would get free tickets to attend his concert, after which they joined him in singing two of his biggest songs, ‘Aiye’ and ‘IF’.

The concert took place Saturday night at Amahoro Stadium, Kigali.

The Nigerian superstar is currently on the Francophone Africa leg of his 30 Billion Gang Tour. The tour is put together by Temple Management Company (TMC).

Davido’s tour train will next berth in Kinshasha, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, on March 9, and later in Brazzaville, Congo, on March 10.

He will subsequently perform in Douala, Cameroon on March 17 and in Niamey, Niger on March 21.

The tour will end in Dakar, Senegal on March 24.
